Governor Whitmer issued an executive order that limits travel that is not essential. Our firm is considered as an essential service, and not subject to the restrictions. Therefore, travel to and from our office is not restricted. We do have a policy of ‘social distance’…maintaining a distance of 6 feet or more…that we adhere to as practically as possible. With this in mind, we will continue to honor appointments for those clients who wish to come in.

The federal and Michigan filing date has been deferred from April 15 to July 15 for filing 2019 returns, for paying balances due, and for paying 1st quarter estimates for 2020. Detroit has been deferred from April 30th to July 30. Other cities are deferring their dates, also, so you will need to check with any municipalities with which you file returns.

Our firm is continuing to march forward, working to complete returns for those clients who prefer to still file by April 15.

For those clients who wish to defer their filing beyond April 15, we are more than happy to reschedule for you. Until COVID-19 has run its course, an event which remains to be seen, it makes sense to also defer rescheduling until it is deemed safe. We ask, however, that you call or email us now to let us know if you want to reschedule, then call us at a later date to set an appointment when you feel comfortable with coming in.

Alternatively, we encourage any and all clients to mail, email, or upload to their portal folders their tax information. We are very adept at working with returns in this manner. If you are new to this process, we will help you with it in every way that we can. We are good at this!

We are also more than happy to meet you in our parking lot if you would like to drop your tax information off. We ask that you call us in advance to alert us (248.542.8340), then call us when you arrive.

Please be safe.
